This page describes the SILOD Join client and what a Host license does with data. The Host operator holds member data.
The Join client
This page describes the SILOD Join client. That client joins the Host at https://joinsilod.com. It does not host.
A Mentions alert can show the author and a short excerpt of the message. The device registers with that Host so the alert can arrive when the app is not running.
The username and account password are sent to the Host. When the Host requires one to join, the server password is sent to the Host. Remember me stores the username and the server password only. Create account is available when registration is open.
The client uses the microphone and the camera for voice and video.
The client registers an FCM registration token with the Host. The chat text is sent to and stored on the Host. A session token is stored on the device.
For a Mentions alert when the app is not running, the mention title and the first 140 characters of the message travel through the push service. That excerpt is displayed, including on the lock screen.
The Host
Prices are USD. A paid Host license keeps working after 1.0 and is not renewed. There is no Linux Host. People join from a phone browser.
Files stay on the Host PC. There is no company upload cap. If the Host PC dies, the operator’s copy is the backup.
The Host operator holds member data. The Host does not send chats, voice, or files to 2-5-2. After the key is entered it does not need to call us to keep running. One online check happens the first time the Host starts.
A license cannot be resold. It can be transferred to a new PC. A commercial license is $49.99 a year for unlimited users.
